Design and Structure of Web Sites

Site Design: The site design, local structure, and page layout should support the purpose of the web site and the critical tasks of the users. Some structures are better than others for specific types of tasks and users. Most sites need a combination of structures to accomplish their goals.

Site Content: New material should be crafted to take advantage of the unique scanning behaviors of web site users. Repurposed materials need to be edited for better readability on the web. All material needs to be presented in a way that supports the users task.

Site Content Plan: A phased approach to the release and maintainence of the site should be practiced. Careful attention should be paid to initial, core, and transient content.
