Customer-Centered Training

Design Technologies provides courses to support the transfer of usability technology and methods to our clients. Training can take place in a project setting, in an open enrollment course, or on-site for individuals and teams that are interested in using customer information to inform product design decisions. We also customize training to meet specific client needs. Read reviews by our course participants.

Product Design Assessment Course

This course focuses on the methods and processes for obtaining product design information from competitive products, existing products, design concepts, simulations, and prototypes. The methods in this course keep the focus on the customer during the conceptual and iterative design phases of product development.

In this course we look at what can be learned from competitive products that will help in forming the usability goals and design for your products. A number of flavors of walkthroughs (principles, task, navigational, mechanistic, etc.) are explained and a hands on exercise will be conducted. The concept of task scenarios will be developed in the context of answering specific design questions. Task scenarios form the framework in which directed dialogs are conducted to determine the usability (intuitiveness, discoverability, and learnability) of designs. The directed dialog method for gathering customer feedback about design is presented through a hands-on exercise.
